As leaders it’s sometimes easy to get so caught up in managing and the “actual” work of decision making, conceptualizing, organizing and running of things, that we may forget or take for granted the people whom we are working through!
In an effort to stay firm and unbiased, we may impersonalize and forget about things like leading with compassion, empathy and understanding. We may forget our role in creating and sharing a vision and aligning our people to their purpose. We may forget the common courtesies sometimes, that builds trust and mutual respect and that helps persons feel valued.
We often hear that people don’t leave organizations because of the work but more so because of the environment or the people and that includes leadership.
So, leaders … remember your people!
